Elevator Pitch
Camelia Kariamu Walker is Shuford’s inspirational internship innovator aka Career & Internship Manager. Camelia’s diverse career has taken her through roles in college administration, employment services, and the thrilling world of entrepreneurship, all with a focus on empowering people to thrive.
Camelia’s expertise spans multiple industries—government, non-profit, and education—yet her mission remains consistent: to guide people in connecting with the most authentic and fulfilled version of themselves. Whether it’s landing that dream job, securing the perfect internship, or launching a personal venture, Camelia has a knack for inspiring and equipping others to make their next best move.
Known for her enthusiastic and compassionate approach, Camelia is not just a mentor but a professional matchmaker of sorts. She connects students with the opportunities, resources, and ideas to move towards authentic, engaged, and meaningful lives.
As a dedicated but sporadic entrepreneur, Camelia has launched several ventures, including a whole-foods juice bar, a publishing company, and an independent college counseling firm. Her entrepreneurial spirit is fueled by a deep belief in the importance of contributing positively to the world and bringing ideas to life.
When she’s not mentoring, writing, coming up with wild ideas, Camelia can be found indulging her love for political cartoons, German pens (team Lamy, anyone?), Japanese stationery, and all things floral.
In short, Camelia’s goal is to make the world a little brighter, one connection at a time.
