Elevator Pitch
A proud two-time graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Molly Matthews ’12 (MAT ’19) has extensive professional experience in event management, operations & logistics, and education. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Exercise & Sport Science (Sports Administration), she worked in marketing & event operations for EarthLink Business and BCD Meetings & Events, helping clients plan and execute their vision for successful events. She was known in these spaces as an organized problem solver, always working to make sure client goals were achieved.
In a career pivot, Molly decided to pursue a lifelong dream of being a teacher and came back to UNC to pursue her teaching degree. She received her Master of Arts in Teaching (Secondary Social Studies) in 2019, and taught high school social studies for 5 years, challenging her students to examine history through a critical lens and embrace multiple perspectives to learn the entire story. Her teaching philosophy carries over into her operational perspective – gather all the information to make an informed decision.
Molly joined the Shuford Program in Entrepreneurship in August 2023 as the Program Coordinator. In her time with the Shuford Program, she has taken steps to improve program processes and implement data collection standards. As the Shuford Program Coordinator, she oversees all daily operations of the Shuford Program. She manages all Finance, Academic, and Human Resources operational needs of the program.
In her free time, she enjoys reading (her 2025 reading goal is 100 books), going to Broadway musicals at DPAC, cheering on the Tarheels, and hanging out with her adorable niece Merritt.
